Lifeway Scavenger Hunt: Know Your Company, Know Your Edge
This micro-course was designed to onboard new Lifeway Mobility employees by helping them explore the company’s website, product offerings, and market positioning through an interactive scavenger hunt format.
The course supports employees across roles: including sales, technicians, schedulers, and leadership, by building foundational knowledge needed for customer-facing success.

The Challenge
New employees needed to quickly understand:
• Lifeway’s product offerings
• How to navigate internal and external resources
• What differentiates Lifeway from competitors
The challenge was to design something that was:
✔ Engaging (not just passive onboarding)
✔ Fast to complete (~30 minutes)
✔ Relevant across multiple roles
✔ Easy to implement and scale
Evidence of Impact
• Increased new employee engagement during onboarding by transforming passive information into an interactive, exploratory experience
• Helped employees become more familiar with company tools, resources, and workflows through hands-on navigation tasks
• Reduced initial overwhelm by breaking onboarding content into manageable, action-based steps
• Designed with accessibility in mind (clear instructions, structured flow, minimal cognitive load) to support diverse learners
• Aligned onboarding experience with real workplace behaviors, encouraging active participation rather than passive consumption
Design Approach
I designed this as a microlearning experience in Articulate Rise, using a scavenger hunt format to promote active learning.
The course includes:
• Short, focused modules (~5–7 minutes each)
• Interactive activities (matching, fill-in, reflection)
• Real-world exploration of Lifeway’s website
• Applied learning tied directly to job tasks
The structure moves from:
Orientation → Exploration → Application → Reflection
Accessibility in Practice
Accessibility was integrated to ensure usability across a diverse employee population.
Key practices included:
• Structuring content into short, digestible modules
• Using clear instructions and consistent navigation
• Incorporating multiple activity types (reading, interaction, reflection)
• Ensuring readability through strong contrast and simple layouts
• Designing content that works across devices and roles
The microlearning format itself supports accessibility by reducing cognitive load and allowing flexible completion.
AI as a Design Partner
AI was used to support clarity, efficiency, and consistency across the course.
AI-supported tasks included:
• Refining instructional language for clarity and conciseness
• Drafting activity prompts and knowledge check questions
• Improving consistency across modules
• Supporting iterative revisions during development
All AI outputs were reviewed and refined to align with business goals and learner needs.
Key Features
• 5-module micro-course structure
• Interactive scavenger hunt activities tied to real website navigation
• Product knowledge matching activities
• Competitor awareness and customer review analysis
• Downloadable worksheet for accountability and submission
Outcome
The final product is a scalable onboarding micro-course that:
• Helps employees quickly build confidence in company knowledge
• Connects learning directly to real-world job tasks
• Increases engagement through active exploration
• Supports consistent onboarding across departments
Reflection
This project reinforced the value of learning by doing in professional training environments.
The scavenger hunt format transformed onboarding from passive content consumption into an active, task-based experience.
It also highlighted how microlearning can balance:
• Efficiency
• Engagement
• Real-world application
AI-supported workflows improved speed and consistency, while human-centered design ensured relevance and clarity.
